Tangerine sun, smokey Sydney morning

It is 6am and the sun is rising – a red-orange orb climbing into a brown-tinged sky. Within seconds, the sky turns pink. It is both beautiful and terrible. Last summer, the bushfires ringing Sydney kept us inside with all the doors and windows closed. Air conditioning on full-bore as we tried to keep the air breathable.

We went outside as little as possible. Walking the dog in the local park every morning and evening, he must have thought the sky had forgotten how to be blue.
